The life and times of a beautiful little girl.
We went to cut down our Christmas tree this weekend in Oregon. It was so much fun! The weather was pretty warm. Dad was really hot but mom says he is hot blooded. All I know is I got to take my hat off toward the end so I was happy. Even though I really like my little Carhart hat. We took my cousins Corey and Colton with us so they could get a tree too. They picked out one for my Neema and Papa and I helped pick out one for me. There were carts to haul your tree back with that I got to sit on while my dad cut down trees. We only took one cart with us so my cousins pulled their tree back on it and my dad just drug ours. Colton was in charge of pulling his tree and he sure was complaining a lot. He tried to get my mom to pull it but she was carrying me so she wasn't much help. She talked Corey into pushing the cart while I pulled. It looked like hard work but they did a good job getting it back to the main station. Santa and Mrs. Claus were at the main station and my mom and dad decided to have me sit on his lap. I DID NOT LIKE IT! They even sent Colton with me but I just wanted off. Santa is scary up close! I hope this doesn't upset him - he can still bring me presents. I was pretty worn out from my adventure and slept all the way home. I'll post some pictures from our tree adventure soon.
It started snowing this morning and hasn't quit yet. We went to my Neema and Papas house today. When we got back home tonight my dad shoveled the driveway. I got to go outside and see the snow after he was done. My mom took this picture of us. It was really pretty fluffy snow. My dad put up some Christmas lights this year and it looked very festive. I am still not sure if I like the snow or not. Its fun to look at....its kind of cold though when you are out in it!
My mom was chomping at the bit to get the Christmas decorations out this year. So the day after Thanksgiving my dad started helping her dig out all the boxes with decorations in them. I went in the basement with my dad to help him find them. Then I got to do something really fun - he put me on top of the tote and carried me all the way upstairs! It was really really fun. I got to do it a couple of times. My mom found us and took this picture so I could show you all how much fun I was having. I should get people to carry me around like this all the time. Maybe my dad can build me a carriage....
I have a pair of glasses that I got with a swim suit this summer. I actually hated those glasses until recently. Now I like to wear them around the house. My mom used to try to wear them and I thought it was really funny. Now I'd rather wear them myself though and I get really mad when she tries to steal my glasses. They velcro in the back so they stay on my head. I think I look pretty cool. I wanted to let everyone know its my Dad's birthday today too. So tell him happy birthday if you see him!!
My mom sent my dad to the grocery store this weekend to get some powdered sugar and he came back with these orange poofy things called cheetos. Man they were SO GOOD! My dad even let me get them out of the bag all by myself. I had cheeto residue everywhere. My hands were pretty coated. I kept trying to grab my mom and she kept running away. She kept saying something about my hands being really gross. I don't know what she was talking about...I thought they tasted pretty good!

My first birthday was today! My Grandma Jan came to see me after work and my mom and dad gave me my big present. They got me my very own table and chairs! We had cupcakes for supper...although I wasn't too interested in mine. My mom thinks I'm weird for not liking cake and icing. I figure she should just be happy. More for her that way!
This weekend we went to Dubuque for my cousin's birthday. We stayed at the Grand Harbor hotel - it has a waterpark. There was a museum not to far away that we went to. It was lots of FUN! There was this huge tank with lots of fish in it - the same kind of fish that live in the river! I even got to watch turtles and ducks. I had the most fun just sitting and watching the fish swim around with my dad. We got to see some snakes too, and an alligator. I learned a lot about the Mississippi River and had lots of fun. I'll post some other pictures from our trip too!
I like to hang out with my dad while he watches TV. I like sports, and cartoons with music. Me and my dad watch Phinneas and Ferb all the time. He does a really cool impression of the evil doctor. I like Perry the Platypus though. I watch sometimes with my dad, most of the time I'm too busy playing with toys though.

Today I got to go watch my two cousins play flag football. It was a little chilly when I first got there but turned into a pretty nice day later on. Even the dog got to go! I was in charge of watching her for awhile. I think she got bored after awhile. Even though lots of other kids wanted to come play with her. I was pretty jealous not to be getting all the attention. My cousin Corey played for the Steelers and Colton played for the Bears. I got to go to Dairy Queen after the game. I wish I got to go to Dairy Queen every weekend!

I got to go to my first pumpkin patch this weekend. It was so cool! There were animals to pet, corn to play in, a wagon ride - my dad even took me through a corn maze! Corn is really tall! I really liked playing with all the outdoor toys though. I wish I could have stayed all day, but I started getting sleepy so I had to take my pumpkins and go home.
Today is my 11 month b-day! It was pajama day at daycare today. I got to wear my pajamas ALL DAY. It was so cool! Mom and Dad were trying to get my picture to put in a frame for grandma. I had lots of fun moving around and trying to eat flowers while they tried to get a nice picture of me. I think I even got them to give up towards the end....he he he he he....
My mom sent me to school with my scary legs on today. My teachers at daycare really liked them and all wanted a pair. They were pretty sad they don't make them adult sized. My scary legs keep me nice and toasty on chilly days. By the afternoon I didn't really need them. But they were cute so I kept them on.

I like to hang out with my mom and dad in the kitchen every morning before they take me to daycare and they go to work. Now that I can get around better I am trying really hard to get the hang of climbing things. There are two stools in my kitchen and they have rungs I try to climb on every morning. Today my dad thwarted my efforts and put me in the chair!! It was so high up! I felt like a big girl. I helped my mom pack her snack and looked at my muppets halloween book. It was so much fun sitting all by myself.
I really like swinging. My Grammy and Grampy got me a swing out at their house now. It sure is a lot of fun. I have gotten lots of use out of it lately too. Sometimes I cry on purpose so they will take me outside and put me in the swing. Boy do I have them fooled! Sometimes they swing with me. It sure is funny seeing them swing too. I like racing them to see who can swing faster. I think I beat my Grampy the other day. Hahahahahaha.

This weekend was Paint the Town in Morrison. I went with my two cousins and we each got our very own square to paint! I get to paint at daycare sometimes but this was way more fun because they just turned me loose! Mom squirted paint and showed me how to use the paintbrush. I think paintbrushes are way more difficult than just using my hands though. I smeared paint everywhere! Even all over myself. The weird thing was my dad and my mom didn't even care! They seemed happy that I was getting paint everywhere! I was pretty excited. My dad made a cool cubs design and wrote Grace #17 under it. I have no idea what the 17 was for. My name is Grace but what the heck does #17 mean? Dad said something about some guy named Grace who used to play for the Cubs. Whatever. Grace is a GIRLS name...not a guys. It was pretty hot outside and there wasn't much shade. Once I was done painting it wanted to GO NOW! Luckily my painted clothes dried pretty quick and we loaded up and went home. I got a bath at Grandmas house. They have way more toys in their tub than my mom and dad do in ours. I wish I got to take baths there all the time.
Heres me....painting with my tush worked to!
Heres me again while I was creating my masterpiece. I think I got paint up my nose.

I was helping mom in the kitchen again today. I have lots of fun cupboards mom lets me get in. Now that I am almost walking I can open them myself and get out all the things I need - like macaroni strainers, mixing bowls, measuring cups...theres all kinds of stuff to play with! I got a little crazy with this cupboard door and ended up bumping my head. Good thing my mom and dad had soft mats down on our kitchen floor! I still hurt my head a little bit and I sure was scared. Its the first time I ever fell over! Mom and Dad sure felt bad too. They cuddled me a lot and gave me my favorite blankie. I felt lots better after that.
My mom lets me help her in the kitchen now. Its a lot of fun. She gives me tools and lets me practice swinging spoons around. I stole her cookbook today while she was making scotcheroos. The look really yummy. Its like a rice krispie treat with chocolate stuff on top. I was pretty disappointed I didn't get to eat one. She said they were too sticky for babies with only two teeth. I think she just wanted to keep them all for herself. I stole her cookbook to try to find a recipe for her to make that I could share too!
I was so excited at lunch today! Mom put a whole entire bowl of watermelon on my high chair. I got to pick out a bunch of my own pieces. I love watermelon. Its SOOOOO good. It was one of the first table foods I ever got to eat. They call me the watermelon queen at daycare. They told my mom I am always the first to finish and then try to get the other kids to give me their extra. And here I thought they knew how to keep a secret.....
I got to supervise my dad putting the final touches on the patio. It was pretty fun watching him sweep sand around. He told me it was special sand. He swept it around and then sprayed it with water. I was pretty disappointed I didn't get to play with it. I did manage to escape and crawl around while some of the sand was still wet. Mom seemed pretty concerned when I had it stuck to my legs. It took a little longer in the bath tub to get it to soak off. It was like I had cement stuck all over me. I also got to thinking....everytime there was work being done on the patio dad seemed to be doing it....not mom......
This week my mom and dad put in a new patio! It sure is a lot better than our old patio - it had really big blocks and they were breaking all over. Plus there were lots of ants and grass. My mom said the ants bit her once. YIKES! I got to test it out once they were done. Mom says it took them a long time because she had to do most of it. Dad says shes full of it. I wonder what it is? I bet its sugar and spice and everything nice....just like me:)
Wow. Yesterday it was 90 degrees. Today its 61. It sure was cold today on my way to daycare. Dad even made me wear socks. I sure do hate socks. I try to pull them off whenever my parents aren't looking. I don't think I'm really digging these long sleeves either. It is really rainy today too. Mom and Dad say fall is coming. I think I prefer summer.
Last night I couldn't sleep very good. My ear hurt really bad. It hurt so bad I had to sleep with mom and dad! I feel bad for keeping them up most of the night. I got to stay home with my mom today and we went to the doctors office. I held on really tight because I didn't want to get any shots! Guess what...they didn't even give me shots!! I was afraid for nothing. A nice lady gave my mom a paper and we went to the store and got medicine. We took lots of naps and I played sometimes. Mostly I hung out mom's lap. I hope my ear feels better soon.
I got mail!! A big box came for me today and it had this cool Radio Flyer wagon in it. I had to wait for my dad to put it together but it is so cool - I can pull myself up on it and walk to where I want to go now. It sure is a lot faster than crawling. Plus it holds toys, plus I can sit in it and let mom or dad push me when I get tired. Now if I could only figure out how to turn it around myself......
Guess what I found this weekend! A strawberry patch in mom and dad's yard! Dad has been working on the patio a lot and me and mom were playing in the yard. I wanted to go climb on a wall I saw and I found lots of good strawberrys! Mom had to help me pick them. She lined them up on the wall and I got to eat them and squish them. Eating strawberries sure was fun!
I got to go to my first wedding shower this past weekend. Mom let me help put the presents in the bag. I didn't really want to put this box in the bag though....it looked like there was fun stuff to play with inside. We went to a place called Deer Valley and I got to play on a blanket with all my toys. Everyone kept commenting that I was really cute and a good baby. I even got to skip my afternoon nap!!!! I was pretty tired by the end though. I slept all the way home. By the time I woke up we were back at Grandma's house. WHOA!

I LOVE CHOCOLATE PUDDING. I don't always like having to have my mom or dad feed me though. Sometimes I just want to prove to them I can do things myself. I made sure to steal the spoon from mom early. She actually let me keep it today! Then she just dumped all the pudding onto my tray. It was really fun to paint with. Dad kept giving me funny looks. I'm not sure why.
